FIRST SEMESTER REPORT
CARDS: Report Cards will be distributed
by your first period teacher if you are an
8th grader taking classes at THS. If you
are in grades 9, 10, 11, or 12, your 2nd
period teacher will be distributing your
report cards.

Job Shadow day is
coming soon. Spend a day with the
Torrance Police, Fire Department or City
Attorney. Check out a medical lab, animal
shelter and a few other places. The event
is open to Juniors and Seniors, space is
limited. You must be academically eligible
and willing to spend the day observing a
working professional. You even get a free
lunch! Stop by the Career Center (A111) at
lunch for more information and
sign-ups.

Financial Aid updates:
Deadline for FAFSA & Cal Grants is 3/2
for UC, CSU and community colleges in CA.
Cal Grant: The school district released
the Cal Grant information to the state
this week. You should be able to check on
whether your information has been received
and is correct beginning on Tuesday, 2/9
but only if you have already sent in your
FAFSA. Remember! You will not receive a
Cal Grant without filing your FAFSA! Cal

A Summer Fellowship
Program is available for seniors (Class of
2010) in the biomedical field. If you are
selected, you would be working in
biomedical research laboratories,
assisting with research in areas such as:
biochemistry, cancer, cardiovascular,
computers in biomed science to mention a
few. The dates of the fellowship
(internship) are 6/21-8/13 and there is a
stipend for it. The deadline to apply is

REVISED: By popular
demand
your TA's, Office Assistants,
new teachers or student teachers may be
trained on the Duplo machine on Thursday,
Feb. 11th, 10 minutes after the bell rings
for each period and 10 minutes after SSR.
Please be sure to issue them a pass &
give them 2 originals to copy (25+).
Students are not allowed to use the
regular copier machine at this time. If
you already have TA's that are trained,
please DO NOT SEND them up to make copies
on Feb. 11th. Thanks
