Book of
the Week
|
Open Court by Carol
Clippinger
Hall is a big fish in a
little pond, a nationally ranked tennis
player, but will she be a winner if she
attends a tennis academy? Hall does not
want to go; she is comfortable with her
coach, her family, and her friends. But in
the summer of her thirteenth year, things
are changing. Her parents are paying
attention to her game, she has a new
friend, and a boy is interested her. But
more important is that her partner Janie
has had a breakdown and her coach's voice
is gone from her head, leaving her
struggling with her game. Throughout the
summer, Hall struggles to define what
tennis means to her and whether she has
what it takes to be a winner.
The book of the week is
available for check out at the library
circulation desk.
